Greyhound Tips 8th October 2020

The long awaited return of greyhound racing at Sandown occurs tonight following much needed track repairs. From early reports the works completed appear to have been very successful, which is great news for trainers and punters alike. The nightlight of night will be seeing what star sprinter Christo Bale can run after his luckless run at Wentworth Park last Saturday in a heat of the Million Dollar Chase. Tonight will be a stepping stone towards the 2020 Melbourne Cup, which will be run at Sandown in 6 weeks’ time, an event that this fellow should figure prominently. Tomorrow night at Wentworth Park we have the 8 semi-finals of the 2020 Million Dollar Chase, plus 3 heats of the Group 1 Sydney Cup, in what promises to be a fabulous night of racing. We will have selections for all events in an effort to assist punters find some winners at the meeting.

Sandown R1 #3 It’s A Cruise $4.40 at PlayUp – Made his race track debut last Sunday in a heat for this event, and from box 8 finished a close up second after being trapped wide for the majority of the trip. Drawn closer to the rails tonight, and with natural improvement from his first start, he should be right in the finish of this race that does not look over strong. Selections: 3-1-7-8.

Sandown R8 #2 Jim Zarr Dashian $2.25 at PlayUp – In recent starts has returned to the form he was displaying early in his career, with a couple of very fast wins over the 600m at The Meadows. Drawn to lead from box 2, the times he can run when on the lure make it almost impossible for him to be run down. Selections: 2-1-5-4.

Wagga R6 #4 Ultimate Speed $1.28 at PlayUp – Massive drop in class from his last start which was behind Good Odds Harada in a heat of the Million Dollar Chase. He didn’t finish far off off some very good dogs in that event and, despite the awkward draw here, he has the speed to find the early lead in this and that should be the event.

Dapto R6#3 Amarillo Highway $3.80 at PlayUp – Looks a tough enough race on paper but we are hoping this fellow can find the lead around the first corner as the way the field is drawn there could be carnage at this point. Had no luck in recent starts and is far better than his form reads. We do not want the 1 sitting on his back turning for home as it is super strong. Selections: 3-1-2-7.

Geelong R10 #8 Jepara $2.30 at PlayUp – Very promising pup, from the Angela Langton kennel, who has suffered defeat just once in five starts to date. Tonight takes on a very handy field but looks to be drawn perfectly in box 8 as he has used plenty of the track in all his starts. Selections: 8-3-2-1.
