Greyhound Tips: 8th December

The greyhound punting public is so fortunate at the moment, the quality of racing right across the nation is simply outstanding. And tonight is certainly no exception. At Albion Park in Queensland, a night where races are predominantly for Queensland bred greyhounds, there are two races where the winning connections will receive $25,000, five races the winner will receive $15,000, and $12,000 in a further two races. At Dapto in New South Wales, the final of the Group 1 Dapto Megastar (520) will be run, where the winner will receive $75,000, and remember this is at a country venue. Then at Sandown Park in Victoria and Hobart in Tasmania, heats will be conducted of Group 1 events, the Sandown Laurels (515m) with the heat winners receiving $7,300 and the Hobart Thousand (461m) $6,500, leading into next weeks final where $100,000 is on offer to the winner of each race. Amazing money all around the country, so it is not just a wonderful time to be involved as a punter in our great sport, the participants are receiving great rewards for their efforts.

Winners were a little difficult to find last Saturday night, especially early, but our best of the night saluted with ease, along with a nice $6 winner, plus a couple of placings with greyhounds we liked on an each way basis, so it was a profitable night in the end. With high quality racing such as tonight, we have found in the past, that the cream tends to rise to the top, so locating the winners can be a little easier but actually finding some value for our followers can be difficult. Hopefully we have identified the correct greyhounds tonight to satisfy our followers.

Sandown Park Race 1 No 2 Soda Apache $3.00 at PlayUp – Excels from inside draws, with all three career wins occurring when drawn in close to the inside. His heat win on Sunday, in fast time, was outstanding. Has good early speed which should see him in the first couple in the run to the first corner. Strong late. Highly promising galloper.

Hobart Race 3 No 1 Boo Boo Billy $3.30 at PlayUp – Victorian who has been racing in top grade company of late, finishing fourth in a heat of the Group 1 Melbourne Cup at his latest run, after being heavily supported. Should get a clear run early in this race as the greyhound in box two does tend to scout very wide. Loves the rails and should be suited by the track.

Sandown Park Race 6 No 3 Baby Jaycee $2.00 at PlayUp – She has been racing at the highest level over the last six weeks, and preformed admirably, and mainly from middle to wide box draws. She will appreciate being back Racing against her own age group and sex tonight. She has enormous early pace when given clear running early, and she should be able to obtain that tonight. Once in front, she is capable of running some very fast times. She does look the best bet anywhere tonight, so ensure she is your banker in any multi bets you may take.

Sandown Park Race 7 No 1 Flying Ability $18.00 at PlayUp – Very fast beginner and very speedy early. Drawn to lead and should be able to establish a break down the back. The favourite (2) is a top class dog and should get the clear behind our selection and prove to strong. But if it encounters any issues, the red will be off and gone. Huge odds on offer our selections, so well worth an investment on win and place basis, especially on the place we suggest.

Angle Park Race 7 No 1 George’s Fancy $4.00 at PlayUp – Former Victorian who recently joined the kennels of veteran South Australian trainer Laurie Cahalan. Had no luck at her first start at this track but we will see a different dog from her rails draw tonight. Excellent record from the red box winning twice on Victoria metropolitan tracks from the draw. Has the speed to lead all the way even.

Dapto Race 8 No 2 Good Odds Emma $2.90 at PlayUp – Recently changed kennels and is now a member of the very strong Lord team. Excellent run in her heat last week when finishing second after suffering interference early. Drawn closer to the rails tonight, and drawn to get a nice run along the inside. She is strong so we expect her to pick up the early leaders in the closing stages.

Albion Park Race 7 No 4 Milligan $2.60 at PlayUp – Stepped up to the 600 metre trip for the first time last week when finishing a nice third after having no luck early from his wide draw. A middle draw is not perfect but it should allow him to position up in the leading half of the field early. We expect him to be very strong late. Looks reasonable value at the odds.
