What an amazing year it has been for the greyhound racing industry as a whole in 2022, with the industry continuing to make huge strides forward in all facets. Prize money levels have grown across all states and not just at the high end, the welfare of the animal continues to be more closely monitored, crowds have returned to the tracks, media awareness and support has increased considerably, and the racing has gone to another level.
It would be difficult task to list all the major highlights in 2022 but the one stand out for us has to be the performances of Wow She’s Fast and She’s A Pearl. Both greyhounds were successful in a $1 million race, and both greyhounds passed the existing stake money record. Wow She’s Fast became the first greyhound in the world to earn more than $2 million, with her earnings currently standing at $2.259 million, amazing, whilst She’s A Pearl became the first greyhound to win both the Golden Easter Egg and the Million Dollar Chase in the same year. These two greyhounds, alone, have been instrumental in helping to lift the profile of this wonderful industry. The connections of both greyhounds have readily made themselves, and their greyhound, available to the media at all times, with many ‘one greyhound’ people then able to see for themselves the love and affection these animals receive.
Tipping winners for our followers, week in and week out, is not always the easiest task going around. Us tipsters are at times like the greyhounds themselves, our form can drop away at times. We did have a lean patch mid year but we are very happy to say that we have finished the year off in strong style, confirmed by our selections on Thursday where four of our six selections did the right thing by us. Let us see if we can give our followers something to really cheer the New Year in with tonight.
The Meadows Race 4 No 2 Hot Scotch $1.80 at PlayUp – Perhaps the hottest young sprinting prospect in the country at the moment, winning ten of his twenty starts to date. But it has been his last two victories, a Sandown Park 29.12 and The Meadows 29.68, that have confirmed his true ability. He is drawn perfectly tonight as the red is fast early and rails and the three greyhound tends to move up the track in the run to the first bend. This should give Hot Scotch a clear run and allow him to stride to a comfortable victory.
The Meadows Race 5 No 7 Reinforcements $3.60 at PlayUp – Near faultless beginner who is racing in career best form. Recorded a couple of scintillating wins at Horsham before coming to The Meadows where she has been excellent in all her runs over this 600m distance. Getting stronger with each run and with another fast get away, she can break open the field early tonight to secure another victory.
Ballarat Race 6 No 4 Euler Bale $2.40 at PlayUp – Remember this greyhound followers, he will win a major race, or two, in the coming twelve months. He has great speed and will get stronger with more racing. Will be ideally suited to the big circuit at Ballarat, so he should win comfortably. Capable of running near record time with a clear run. Remember, Euler Bale is a star.
The Meadows Race 6 No 1 McInerney $2.30 at PlayUp – He has been racing against the elite in all his recent starts, and squirting himself very well. Finished a close up 4th, behind Wow She’s Fast, in The Phoenix at his most recent start. Very good record from inside draws, has the speed to lead all the way tonight. Looks the best bet of the night, so the banker for all your multi bets.
Ballarat Race 10 No 7 Crymelon Comet $2.30 at PlayUp – Approaching four years of age and a veteran of seventy nine starts for just nine wins. But his recent most form has been outstanding, including two extremely fast wins at Horsham. If he can bring his recent Horsham form to Ballarat tonight, he wins.
Richmond Race 10 No 1 Winlock On Top Bet Now at PlayUp – Grand old performer who is the winner of thirty three races in his career. Loves an inside draw being unplaced just the once in eighteen previous attempts. The bend start here should see him find the early lead and allow him to bring up win number thirty four. Iron dog.
