Aside from Million Dollar Chase final night we rate this the biggest night of the year on the Sydney greyhound racing calendar. Three Group 1’s headline the nights racing, the Futurity for restricted aged females, the Derby for restricted aged males, and the Paws of Thunder, open to all comers. In support of these races, we have the Summer Distance Plate, a Maiden final and the Jeff Collerson, this being a consolation event for beaten dogs in the Paws of Thunder heats from last week. What a night it promises to be, and hopefully we can help fill the pockets of punters by guiding them into a few winners along the way.
Wentworth Park Race 3 No 3 Simon Told Helen $1.80 at PlayUp – Reigning Australian Greyhound of the Year who endured zero luck last start in his heat of the Paws of Thunder before finishing a close up third. Much better suited tonight by the box draw and with an even get away at box rise, he will comfortably find the lead. On the lure he will be unbeatable. Selections: 3-1-8-2.
Wentworth Park Race 4 No 2 Jungle Deuce $1.85 at PlayUp – Heavily backed in his heat at his first race start on the strength of reports of fast trials in lead up. Money was right and he recorded a very easy win. Followed up with a dashing win at Bathurst in fast time. Strong railer so drawer suits. Selections: 2-8-1-7.
Wentworth Park Race 5 No 8 Ice Cream Story $3.90 at PlayUp – One of our favourite greyhounds as we believe she has the motor to reach the highest peaks in the sport. Worked hard in both of her recent wins, both in good time. Very hard chaser. This draw will suit ok, providing she can begin on even terms. Selections: 8-1-3-2.
Wentworth Park Race 6 No 2 Zipping Truvy $9.50 at PlayUp – Has proven to be a nightmare for the punters in recent months as she just finds ways to lose. Huge motor when she lets go. She does love this track. Can be closer to the lead than normal tonight from this box draw. She is very strong so will be powering to the line in the last 100 metres. Looks excellent each way value. Selections: 2-1-8-5.
Wentworth Park Race 7 No 1 Tyler Durden $3.30 at PlayUp – Victorian visitor in the kennels of three time National Derby winning trainer Jeff Britton. Runner up in the recent Silver Chief series at The Meadows. Was very good here last week when runner up in fast time. Can go one better tonight but must begin on terms to ensure he makes full use of the inside draw. Selections: 1-2-8-7.
Wentworth Park Race 8 No 5 Wow $2.90 at PlayUp – Must overcome a horror draw but this bloke has taken all before him in recent times. Fastest on the clock here last week in his easy heT win. Can go even faster with a smoother beginning. This could be the beginning of a massive year for this dog who we predict will be a house hold name by years end. Yes. Selections: 5-2-3-1.
