Greyhound Tips: 19th March

Massive night of greyhound racing right across the country this weekend, it is hard to know where to start this preview. Tonight, we have the G2 Shepparton Cup (450m), Country Classic at Dubbo worth $125,000 to the winner, G1 Perth Cup and G1 Galaxy at Cannington, tomorrow the G3 Murray Bridge Cup and on Monday the G2 Maitland Cup. Can hardly wait to watch these events, so let us try to steer our followers into a few winners.

Shepparton Cup Race 8 No 8 Robbie Rotten $5.00 at PlayUp – Winner of the G2 Warragul in January this year, so is proven at this level. Excellent run here last week when he was runner up in his heat to Mr. Audacious in track record time, with Rotten Ronnie running a time which would have also broken the previous record. Ideal draw here and he has the speed to lead all the way for young trainer Kayla Cottrell. Selections: 8-7-1-6.

Country Classic Dubbo Race 8 No 3 Jarick Bale $4.00 at PlayUp – Another proven group performer, having won the G1 Sale Cup in late 2021, and then the G1 Rookie Rebel last month at The Meadows. Finished second in his heat and semi-final, both at this track, leading into this final of this state-wide event. Will have benefitted enormously done that experience. The start will be so important in this event, but we are banking on this bloke finding the rail early and proving too strong in the closing stages. He is a star. Selections: 3-1-5-2.

Galaxy Cannington Race 2 No 8 Mepunga Ruby $3.40 at PlayUp – Victorian trained stayer who recently won the G1 Super Stayers final at The Meadows, against all the best stayers from the eastern states. Had first run at this venue last week when winning her heat, where it was obvious was had not seen the venue previously. Will improve sharply from her last effort. We think she can prove too strong late for the favourite here. Selections: 8-4-3-2.

Perth Cup Cannington Race 4 No 4 Lala Kiwi $2.25 at PlayUp – Star Victorian performer who was runner up in the G2 Melbourne Cup last November before going one better in the G1 Australian Cup, at The Meadows, last month. Her two runs at this venue in recent weeks have been outstanding. She has the speed to lead her and once on the lure it is hard to see her being beaten. We think she is the best bet of the night anywhere in the country tonight. Selections: 4-8-1-3.

The Meadows Race 8 No 2 Equalizer $2.05 at PlayUp – Outstanding here last week at his first run back from injury in almost six months, storming home late to finish third. Six dog field here really suits this fellow. Not quick early but he is so strong so look for him to be finishing hard late in the race tonight. Looks a special.

Tomorrow Murray Bridge Cup Race 8 No 2 Weblec Jet Bet Now at PlayUp – Part owned by Murray Bridge Club President Neville Lochael, but trained in Victoria by Jeff Britton, this fellow looked very unlucky in his heat last week when he got pushed out the back early before making up many lengths late to finish a narrow second in very fast time. G2 Geelong Cup last year so another who is proven at this level. Can land on the speed from this draw and he is very strong, so he will be flying home late. Selections: 2-3-4-8.

Monday Maitland Cup Race 8 No 7 Zipping Lopez $4.60 at PlayUp – Youngster taking on group racing for the first time here. Very strong in his heat win in a time of 24.86 which proved to be the fastest of the four heats. Trained locally by master trainer Jason Mackay, so he will be tuned to perfection come race times. Likes a wide draw so that is not a deterrent. It is an even race, but we are keen on this fellow from the draw. Selections: 7-1-4-8.

THINK. IS THIS A BET YOU REALLY WANT TO PLACE?
