Huge night of greyhound racing ahead tonight for punters, with the running at The Meadows of eight heats of the Group 1 Australian Cup (525m), plus four heats of the Group 1 Fanta Bale Super Stayers (725m).

Race 1 No 7 Stanley Road $1.95 at PlayUp
Won the final of this event last year when he was racing in career best form, before form tapered off in second half of the year. Has shown in last couple of races that he is regaining confidence and is nearing his best. Comes from off the speed so will need luck but he is very strong. Look for Shima Glow (6) and Fernando’s Quest (8) to set the pace but both lack strength. Hank The Hustler (3) is a class dog so appears the main danger. Selections: 7-3-6-2.
Race 2 No 2 Knicks Bale $3.40 at PlayUp
Very consistent stayer who is always a threat in these races. She should find the lead with ease from this draw. Mepunga Warrior (3) loves an inside draw so he will be stalking her throughout, and Gypsy Wyong (7) will also race very handy to the speed. We are banking on the box winning the race for Knicks Bale. Selections: 2-3-7-4.
Race 3 No 3 Untapped $1.65 at PlayUp
Very reliable beginner who leads in majority of her races and will do again in this. She will set very fast sectionals allowing her to break open the race with winning lead. Drako Bale (4) and Micks Recall (8) are both strong dogs, so will be finishing hard in the closing stages. Selections: 3-8-4-2.
Race 4 No 4 Mepunga Ruby $1.30 at PlayUp
Classy stayer who was knocked out early of the Zoom Top here last week. Has the speed to find the lead in this and once on the lure she is super strong. Some interest in veteran New Tears (7) who ran a fair race in the Zoom Top last but look for Stay Strong (8) to run a bold race. Selections: 4-8-3-7.
Race 5 No 1 Immunity $2.10 at PlayUp
Drawn to perfection in the read box, as she excels from inside draws. She clearly looks the BEST BET on the program tonight. Look for King of Calypso (2) to run a bold race and we are expecting McCooly’s Lad (6) to improve sharply tonight on his effort last week in the Rookie Rebel. Selections: 1-6-2-8.
Race 6 No 1 True Collinda $3.10 at PlayUp
Again drawn to perfection as she finds lengths when drawn inside. Has the speed to hold the lead, or camp on the speedy Robbie Rotten (3) in the drive to the first corner, either way she will prove too strong. Do It (7) is poorly drawn but is a class animal so he will find a way to be in the finish. Selections: 1-7-2-3.
Race 7 No 2 Lala Kiwi $4.80 at PlayUp
Going against the favourite, Aston Rupee (3), here as we just think Lala Kiwi can find the lead in the run to the first corner, whilst the fav is fending off three dogs (4, 5 & 6) on his outside who all love to get to the rails at box rise. The big offers on an each way basis is Hebridean Black (8) as he will run a big race from his draw. Selections: 2-3-8-1.
Race 8 No 6 Jungle Deuce $2.80 at PlayUp
Wasn’t suited by the bend start in the Rookie Rebel last week in run that looked disappointing on face value. We are happy to forgive him and are expecting him to be too strong in this heat. Expect Just Like Mick (3) to be vying for the early lead with Photo Man (7), who is resuming and will run well. Paddy Wants Pats is poorly drawn but with clear air he is a danger. Selections: 6-5-7-3.
Race 9 No 1 Titan Blazer $1.70 at PlayUp
Our second special of the night, simply flying now and very well drawn. He will lead and win. Look for Carry On Star (6) and Handsome Rhino (8) to always be prominent in the run. Selections: 1-8-6-2.
Race 10 No 3 Compliance $4.40 at PlayUp
Can ping the lids and we are predicting him to lead the speedy Typhoon Sammy (1) in the vital run to the first corner. Compliance was runner up in the G1 Maturity Classic recently in fast time, so he certainly has the talent. Hill Top Jack (2) is drawn nicely, and he will run a forward race, whilst Riccarton Rick (7) can fill a minor place. Selections: 3-2-7-6.
Race 11 No 1 Weblec Jet $3.40 at PlayUp
Very open heat, with much interest in the two inside dogs, we do expect Aston Titan (1) to cross Weblec Jet but we are banking on the Jet getting the sit behind, before proving too strong in the last 30 metres. Big Opal Rocks (4) has a massive motor, but his poor draw combined with lack of early speed will make it very tough for him to win. Shima Punga (8) will run a cheeky race also from his favourable draw. Selections: 1-2-8-4.
Race 12 No 5 Zippy Tesla $2.90 at PlayUp
Robbed of some interest with the scratching of the Queenslander Orchestrate (6), who was favourite in early markers. We are expecting Impulse Buy (3) to win the speed battel to the post the first time, but she will be vulnerable late with Zippy Tesla being so strong he should get him home. Collinda Patty (7) is a star, but she needs the rails, and the race could be gone before she finds it, but she will be flashing home. Selections: 5-7-3-8.
