Racing

Greyhound Tips: 14th October

Despite terrible weather conditions across Victoria, greyhound racing proceeded last night at Sandown Park with the highlight of the evening being the running of three Preludes of the 2022 Melbourne Cup. With only five weeks until the running of the heats, much importance and interest was focused last night on the Preludes. Run in atrocious conditions, all three winners were very impressive. Our followers would have been very happy with themselves, when our selection, Amron Dan, led from the first corner to win by just over a length from the fast finishing Mepunga Warrior in 29.49, at juicy odds in the opening Prelude. Prelude two saw Wharfie jump straight to the front and lead throughout in recording the time of 29.55. For the second week in a row, our selection Paddy Wants Pats looked to have the race won in Prelude 3, only to be cut down in the last few strides by the very consistent Eldorado in 29.68, on a deteriorating track. New week a further set of Preludes will be run, with these continuing weekly until the week before the running of the Cup heats on 19 November. Great racing indeed.

Speaking of great racing, tonight, we have a wonderful program of greyhound racing to be conducted at Bendigo, highlighted by the running of the 2022 Bendigo Cup (425m), plus an extremely strong support program. The cup is indeed an open affair, and we have found the task of finding the winner quite challenging. But we have tried our best. Much interest will also focus on the final of the Spring Cup (660m), race 7, which will feature the highly promising stayer Hummock who will exit from box four and he should have little trouble saluting despite the awkward alley. And let us not forget the Match Race, event 9, which will see Robbie Rotten go head to head with Titan Blazer is what should be another very tight contest. Our task is to provide our followers with winners, and this is what we have for you tonight.

Bendigo Cup Race 8 No 2 Quinlan Bale $5.00 at PlayUp – Vastly improved galloper who was outstanding in his heat last when he managed to rail inside the favourite, Plaintiff, to record a fine win in the time of 23.68. Yes others ran quicker, we are expecting Aston Merit (1) to hold the lead and set the race up for Quinlan Bale, who is very strong. Selections: 2-1-3-8.

Bendigo Race 2 No 2 Midnight Rocker $5.00 at PlayUp – Won back to back races at Geelong and Shepparton recently, finishing powerfully on both occasions. Stepping up to the 500 metres tonight and that looks ideal. Drawn nicely to get a cart into the race and we expect him to prove far to strong. Nice odds on offer.

Richmond Race 8 No 1 Zipping Virginia Bet Now at PlayUp – Absolutely loves this track where she has won seven races, plus six placings, from her eighteen starts. The inside draw is to her liking also. Has raced well against the beat stayers in recent months, so should be able to take care of this field.

Warragul Race 11 No 1 Rush Out $3.20 at PlayUp – A winner of seven races to date with most of her best performances coming from inside draws. Experienced no luck at all in recent starts. She does like to get her own way in front, and from this draw she does get that chance. Her second four starts back behind Bendigo Cup finalist He’s No Slouch, is excellent form for this grade. She looks the stand out tonight for us, so make her your banker in all your multi bets tonight.

Bendigo Race 11 No 1 Perfect Willow $8.50 at PlayUp – Perfectly drawn in the red and has the speed to lead all the way. Nice winner at this track and distance three starts back, and then followed up winning well at Shepparton in fast time. No luck last start at The Meadows in much stronger class than this race, so she will really appreciate the drop back in class. Attractive each way odds are on offer.

Mandurah Race 3 No 1 West On Indigo $2.50 at PlayUp – Three career runs for two wins, both at this track and venue. Excellent effort last start from this same box, when he worked home strongly in the litter stages to win well in nice time. A repeat of that effort will see him winning again.
