Greyhound racing on Thursday promised so much and it would be doubtful if any followers of the sport would have been disappointed with the outcome. It was simply quality racing everywhere you looked. The win of Good Odds Emma in the final of the Group 1 Dapto Megastar (520m), provided a number of prominent sporting identities with the thrill of owning a group winner. Only recently purchased by Punters HQ, a very prominent and successful greyhound ownership syndicate, Good Odds Emma proved too strong in the closing stages for her rivals, despite being trapped wide for the majority of the trip. Gerard Daffy, Brittany Graham, Greg Hickman, Matt Jackson, and Jason Lincoln, are just some the owners that form part of the ownership group, names that many racing people will be familiar with. We have mentioned a number of times recently that greyhound racing is enjoying a very successful era, and now is a great time for people to consider becoming involved in the sport via ownership.
Our attention returns to The Meadows in Victoria, tonight with the running of the Group 1 Silver Chief (525m), a restricted age race for male greyhounds only. Won in the past by some of the champions of the sport, the quality of the field assembled tonight is certainly worthy of the Group 1 status that the race holds. Often after a box draw, the task of selecting the winner becomes much easier, but that is not the case in this race tonight, with the two fastest heat winners drawn right beside each other, but the wrong way around to the option that would best suit them. We are sure the connections of Rejuvenate (2) and Amron Boy (3) would happily swap boxes to enhance their winning chances. No doubt it will still be a great spectacle. After enjoying another profitable night on Thursday, let us see if we can find some further winners for our followers.
The Meadows – Silver Chief Final – Race 8 No 3 Amron Boy $2.45 at PlayUp – Racing in outstanding form in recent months, recording times that only some of the sports champions have been able to achieve in the past. Despite his awkward draw tonight, we think he can still win. Landyn Bale (1) is expected to lead to the first turn, but watch for Amron Boy drive underneath him into the back straight, and once on the lure this dog is near unbeatable.
Wentworth Park Race 5 No 3 Zipping Kyrgios $4.00 at PlayUp – This greyhound has enjoyed no luck at all in recent starts. Back to his favourite track tonight, we are expecting him to return to the winners list and make it win number 15 on the venue. The odds on offer appear very attractive for this greyhound.
Geelong Race 8 No 1 Roman Blazer $3.60 at PlayUp – Will appreciate the return to his home track after racing in good form on city track of late. Likes an inside draw and is also strong. This all points to him getting the money tonight.
Dubbo Race 9 No 1 Lightning Blazer $2.20 at PlayUp – We were on him last week, but he was knocked out of the race in the back straight when making a forward move. We are prepared to forget that run and give him another chance. Box one tonight should make all the difference having won five times from seven previous attempts. Looks a special.
The Meadows Race 7 No 4 Kysaiah $2.30 at PlayUp – Very well performed greyhound winning twenty of his forty three race starts. Chasing win number nine at this venue tonight. Blessed with great early pace, so should find the lead comfortably. Can run serious times once in front. It does look his race.
Wentworth Park Race 10 No 1 Our Boy Duke $2.50 at PlayUp – Only lightly faced but is putting together a very consistent record. Looked good winning last start at this track and distance from box three. The inside draw will suit him tonight as he has the speed to hold the early lead. Looks the best bet of the night for us, so the banker in your multi bets.
