Racing Tips: 23rd September

Big Saturday of sport and racing upon us, with the feature being the G1 Golden Rose for the 3yo’s from Rosehill. Sit back and enjoy the quality galloping, and check out the tips from the PlayUp form expert below.

Rosehill R6 #9 Opal Ridge $4.80 at PlayUp – Very keen on this progressive country trained horse to make the step up against some talented city gallopers. Opal Ridge is running in career-best form, having run 2nd to Troach three starts back who has since won in Melbourne, and running a very gallant 8th in the G2 Silver Shadow before coming out and winning again last start. He looks to handle all track conditions, and gets the perfect map from barrier one as well. Has race fitness on his side over some other key rivals, and should give a big sight at a price.

Rosehill R8 (G1 Golden Rose) #3 Jacquinot $7.50 at PlayUp – Can’t believe the price on offer for the Melbourne runner, coming off a dominant first up win in the G3 McNeil Stakes at Caulfield. He went past Aft Cabin like he was nailed to the fence, and that Godolphin runner has come out and won again since and stamped himself as favourite for the Caulfield Guineas. Jacquinot looks undoubtedly the best of the 2yo crop to return as a 3yo and run well, and he gets a perfect map from barrier five here. Handles all track conditions, and comes through the right stable as well.

Rosehill R10 #15 Winning Verse $16.00 at PlayUp – Hoping this mare gains a start because she looks a great each way play at a big price. She ran very well in Melbourne last prep, including a huge 3.5L Caulfield victory and a solid effort way out of her grade in the Listed Creswick Stakes behind potential G1 stars such as Passive Aggressive and Star Patrol. She will come into this first up, a previous winner at this stage of her prep, and a trial win at Warwick Farm leading in should have her right up to the mark. Any luck from a wide draw and she can be right in the finish.

Mornington R1 #4 Lovetta $4.40 at PlayUp – Keen to see the return of this Freedman runner, who was a smart debut winner at Bendigo earlier in the year. She was immediately tipped out after that performance, running a meeting fastest last 400m and 200m through the line to win comfortably. They clearly have some Spring targets in mind, and she should be fit and ready to go off the back of some heavy track trials and jump outs. Maps very well from barrier two and Zac Spain sticks to ride here for the first up assignment.

Mornington R6 #4 Niccolite $7.50 at PlayUp – Going off the win of this mare from two runs ago, when she scored with a similar weight on the Sandown track over 1200m. She sat last there, and launched inside the final furlong to win with a meeting fastest last 200m split off a hot tempo in front. She went to the synthetic track at Pakenham last start, and having just won on soft going prior i’m willing to forgive a below par run on the synthetic. Back to turf, gets the big claim as mentioned, and maps handier to the speed this time around from barrier four.
