Another huge weekend of G1 racing coming up, with a huge meeting at Randwick for G1 Randwick Guineas Day, and it’s Australian Guineas day at Flemington as well. Plenty of winners to be found therefore, so take a look at the PlayUp form analyst comments below.
Flemington
R3 #9 Rose Quartz $2.30 at PlayUp
This mare is flying this prep, with three wins and a minor placing from four starts so far. Her last start win at this track and distance was extremely strong, putting away a handy field by over 3L without ever leaving second gear. She rises in grade but holds 54kg, and arguably finds a weaker type of BM90. Drawn nicely, and a mare in form will always hold that form. She is the best bet of the day by far.
R4 #9 Vespertine $11.00 at PlayUp
Racing very well without much luck this prep, and although looks unsuited by the inside barrier she is too good of a price to leave out. She was huge down the straight here fresh, and then was a deserved winner at Caulfield second up. Absolutely luckless last start but flew home in the second best last 200m of the day and would’ve won with even luck. Rock hard fit now, and the wider Flemington circuit should suit its racing pattern. With even luck, she is a huge each way chance.
R7 (G1 Australian Guineas) #9 Pinstriped $6.00 at PlayUp
Another cracking edition of the G1 Aus Guineas, and i’m sticking with the winner of the historical lead in race, the G3 CS Hayes. Pinstriped was huge winning here over the 1400m, mowing down Pascero late with a very good chase and was super strong through the line. Out to 1600m, although untried, looks to really suit as indicated by his strength through and past the post on each win so far. Looks to remain unbeaten, and from the wide draw he can find cover wide in a running line and find the best ground late.
Randwick
R7 #10 Lighthouse $4.00 at PlayUp
Very excited to see this Victorian runner make her way down to Sydney to contest the G1 Canterbury Stakes. She has been flying since making her Australian debut, winning four of six starts and is now second placed in the G1 Cf Orr. The stable are adamant she will relish a heavy track, and 1300m looks to be her perfect distance. Very well drawn, gets the booking of James McDonald, and this looks the perfect opportunity to gain her first group one win.
R10 #10 Never Talk $3.90 at PlayUp
Looks very well placed here in the last of the day, coming off an encouraging third placing at Rosehill behind Rule Of Law when resuming. Not beaten far, it set her up for a very good run here second up on her preferred wet track. She is unbeaten from two starts on a heavy and only has to carry 53.5kg here for J Collett. This is a very winnable G3 event for her, seeing a number of main rivals are first up,
