Despite Covid-19 restrictions preventing the National Finals from being held in Victoria, at The Meadows, later in August as scheduled, each state is progressing with the running of their state heats and finals of the Sprint and Distance Championships. Proceeding begins tonight with Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania holding their heats, whilst the remaining states will conduct their heats on Saturday night. Then next Thursday, in what promises to be an outstanding night of racing right across the nation, all the states will run their finals of both the sprint and distance within the same two-hour time slot.
Covid also looks like playing havoc with the upcoming Million Dollar Chase series in New South Wales, with Greyhound Racing New South Wales currently considering either a complete rescheduling of the current format or cancelling the running of the series completely this year in a worst-case scenario.
Selecting winners is never an easy task but we have certainly been on a roll of late, providing regular winners to punters, and generally at very nice prices. Each week we have been a banker for those punters who enjoy playing around with multi bets, and out of our last ten bankers, eight have been successful. Looking at racing tonight, we are confident that we have found some winners for the punters.
Sandown Race 2 No 5 El Dorado $3.70 at PlayUp – Very nice debut winner at this track in July before having no luck at all at his next start here when finishing in the last place. Forget that last run. This dog is very talented, he does want the rails but he can begin and we think he can find the rails and the lead tonight, and once in front he will prove far too strong for the opposition.
Albion Park Race 2 No 8 Indictment $2.00 at PlayUp – A member of the very strong Tony Brett kennel, Indictment was a fast maiden winner here two starts back before running into dead ends last week when finishing down the track. Needs to begin better than he has been but from box 8 he will get time to balance up. Fast young dog.
Murray Bridge Race 2 No 6 Stocky Brocky $4.00 at PlayUp – One start, in a maiden at Gawler and finished a well-beaten fourth. But he was knocked off his feet at the first bend, and despite that made up many lengths in the run to the line. We really liked the way he hit the line, chased it very hard. This is a small field, vacant boxes on either side of him, and this will certainly help. We have him our best bet of the night and our banker for your multi bets.
Dapto Race 6 No 1 On The Rocks $2.45 at PlayUp – Loves an inside draw, as she seems to begin so much better when drawn near the rails. She has a lot of speed and we believe from this box draw she can lead throughout in this race. She has the ability to run fast time when on the lure.
Sandown Park Race 9 No 1 Fly For Trix $1.80 at PlayUp – Former South Australian sprinter now in the kennel of leading Victoria trainer Steve White. Very fast winner at Warragul two starts back before having no luck at his next start. A winner of four of five starts from box one, so he is ideally drawn here. A winner of 19 races he certainly looks very well graded in this event. Yes.
