After the excitement of last Thursday, where we had group racing in both Queensland and Victoria, the racing scheduled across the nation tonight appears, on paper anyway, to be more your standard Thursday night racing. This does not mean that finding winners for your punters will be any more difficult so we are looking to continue with our excellent recent tipping form which has been proving extremely profitable for all our followers.
Saturday will be a different story with all attention being focused on The Meadows in Victoria, with the running of eight heats of the Group One age-restricted classic, the Maturity Stakes. The depth of these heats is amazing, and we can expect a very high-quality field to win their way through to the final to be run the following Saturday. Dogs the calibre of Koblenz, Aston Fastnet, Aston Rupee, Quara Bale, Do It, Shima Classic, Earn The Answers, Jarick Bale and Jungle Deuce are just some of the fast greyhounds engaged in heats.
With Covid-19 restrictions in place in Greater Sydney for an extended period, GSNSW has made the decision to transfer meetings scheduled for Wentworth Park, during the period of the extension, to regional tracks, so racing will still continue in NSW with city prizemoney paid at these transferred meetings. No decisions have been made yet in relation to the fast-approaching Million Dollar Chase series, due to commence at Temora on 8th August, but the situation will continue to be closely monitored in the coming weeks. Watch this space.
Sandown Park Race 6 No 3 Empress Tears $4.00 at PlayUp – She has been racing very consistently of late but always finding one better. She was very strong late last week when going down narrowly in fast time to Mepunga Ruby. Normally a reliable beginner, she can find the lead tonight from this draw and, once on the lure, she will take a lot of running down.
Murray Bridge Race 5 No 5 Vontae Mack $5.00 at PlayUp – Put together two very smart back to back wins over the 455-metre trip here recently, before having little luck in two subsequent starts at Gawler when finishing unplaced on both occasions. An empty box inside up at the bend start should be very beneficial and we are hoping he can jump and run them into the ground. He does look nice value.
Albion Park Race 8 No 1 Keenando $9.00 at PlayUp – Has been a little disappointing in recent starts in what have been winnable races. But this dog does like to lead and from the one alley, he does get his chance tonight. The favourite, in box 3, will be difficult to hold out, but at the very generous odds, having something each way on Keenando should see punters make money on the race.
Hobart Race 8 No 1 Always Baroque $1.95 at PlayUp – Trained by the master, Ted Medhurst, loves this track and has a great record from box one, three very good reasons this girl looks the best bet of the night for us. We are expecting her to lead all the way. Make her your banker for all your multi bets tonight.
Albion Park Race 11 No 1 Security Code $2.50 at PlayUp – Resuming from a six-month break from racing and for a new kennel, but a kennel we have the greatest of respect for. Former top liner in Victoria who only raced fairly upon making the move north before the break. But his love of racing from Box 1 has not been forgotten by us and we think from this draw, and back in a Masters class event, he does look a good thing.
