Greyhound Tips 18th February 2021

What a super night of greyhound racing we were lucky enough to witness last Saturday night at the Meadows. And how good was the New South Wales star sprinter Wow, who was simply too speedy for all stars from down south in winning the Temlee. Surely, he must go down as one of the best named greyhounds of all time, every time he races that is the first word that come from your mouth, Wow. Houdini Boy was excellent in winning the Zoom Top, albeit very narrowly, holding out the storming finish of the NSW stayer Stanley Road, who wins in another stride. Whilst the Rookie Rebel went the way of Fernando Cazz, trained by 18 year old Kayla Cottrell, proving too strong for another NSW greyhound in Cawborne Footrot, who ran on well in the latter stages and showed that he is looking for more ground.

We can hardly wait for this Saturday night when 8 heats of the Group 1 Australian Cup will be run, supported by 3 heats of the Group 1 Fanta Bale Super Stayers over the 725 metres. We will have selections for all these heats in our Saturday post, giving the punters a real insight into the chances in each heat. But first we need to continue to build our bank by selecting a few winners tonight for our followers.

Sandown Park Race 2 No 1 Mepunga Reject $1.70 at PlayUp – Absolute star in the making this fellow. Displayed his true ability at Geelong last start when going within 2 lengths of a long standing track record, with his early sectionals breaking previous records. Has looked awkward around dogs from poor draws in the past but from this ideal box he will get a clear passage early and it will simply be a case of time and margin thereafter. Make him your banker in your multi bets tonight.

Sandown Park Race 3 No 1 Chart Topper $3.70 at PlayUp – Drawn perfectly in the red box. Finished 3rd last week from this same draw behind Well Grounded who has since won at The Meadows in a blistering 29.89. Didn’t have a lot of room last week on a couple of occasions but was still finding the line well at the finish of the race. We can see her sitting behind the 6 down the back and then proving too strong.

Albion Park Race 2 No 4 Classy Ethics $3.10 at PlayUp – Class runner of this field and will find this race much easier than what she has been contesting in recent months. Loves this track and distance and always seems to give her best here. Look for her to take up a forward position in the early stages and she then has the strength to get her home.

Dapto Race 5 No 3 One Dimension $2.15 at PlayUp – Runaway winner two weeks ago but missed the start and found bother everywhere she went last Thursday at this track from Box 1. She is better than that. Despite the draw being less favourable than last week we still think she looks the winner in this race tonight. We know she has the ability, and we can be sure that the more racing she has the more reliable she will become.

Dapto Race 6 No 1 Nicmac Prince $2.80 at PlayUp – Box 1 bandit, who simply cannot get to the rails quick enough in his races. Strong winner last start after finding the lead through the catching pen after finding some trouble at box rise from a middle draw. With a good beginning tonight, he should be able to hold the lead in the run to the winning post first time and from there prove too strong for his opposition.
