Horse Racing Tips 30th December 2020

Suggested bets for one of the last race days of the year, so let’s try and go out in style with some winners from around the country. Check out our best of the day below.

Werribee R2 #8 Mighty Scot $5.50 at PlayUp – Could do much worse than a small each way bet on this debutant from the P Payne stable. Looks very well placed here jumping from barrier two and should be able to land comfortably on speed, and put itself a winning position from thereon. He has trialled twice leading into this run, and crossed the line alongside talented Jabali Ridge in the latest one at Traralgon. The way he was able to stick alongside a seasoned city class horse like that proves he has some talent, and will be fit and forward enough to run well on debut.

Werribee R3 #3 Holster $3.70 at PlayUp – Thought the first up run of Holster for the new stable last start was very impressive. He got back to last in the run off a muddling tempo, and straightening up had not much room at all. Once clear inside the final 200m he ran home in a very quick sectional, but ran out of time on the line. Second up here and fitter in a bigger field will suit, as will the step up to 1600m which is what he is looking for here. Tipping the change of scenery has brought him on in leaps and bounds here, and keen to see him run well holding weight.

Werribee R4 #8 Billie De Lune $2.70 at PlayUp – Third up here and due for a breakthrough victory, after two close second placings so far this preparation. Was more or less left a sitting shot over a mile last start at Wodonga after hitting the front on the turn, and just no match for the winner last start. Breeding suggests that this step to 2000m is exactly what she needs. By Puissance De Lune, i’m somewhat surprised they haven’t gotten to this distance in her career yet, but now with added fitness and a perfect map, she should relish the extra trip. Can land outside the lead in running and be hard to get past late.

Coffs Harbour R1 #3 Parksville $2.80 at PlayUp – Really keen on Parksville here who comes down to Coffs second up after a really pleasing debut in a much harder race at Eagle Farm over 1000m last start. He SP’d right in the market and was not beaten far at all, and now with the benefit of race fitness and experience, can come to this much easier maiden event and prove too strong. He showed great barrier speed on debut to lob up outside the lead, and the intervals in which they finished should make it a strong form race. Only 810m here, so he will be up on speed again with the 2kg claim and simply too quick for his rivals.
