Thursday 11/6/20

7:40pm Collingwood Magpies vs. Richmond Tigers @ MCG

Both the Magpies and Tigers could be in for a good season, but we’re taking the value on offer with Collingwood.

They looked good in Round 1 and although Richmond did their thing, it doesn’t reflect the current odds situation. Collingwood is paying $2.38 to win in the head-to-head market, which is good value.

It should be a close game either way, so we’re naturally taking the Magpies +8.5 in the line market. If the Magpies do lose to Richmond, it should be by less than a goal.

* On the injury list:

Collingwood Magpies: Dayne Beams, Mason Cox, Levi Greenwood, Tom Langdon, Ben Reid, Adam Treloar

Richmond Tigers: Noah Cumberland, Bachar Houli

Friday 12/6/20

7:50pm Geelong Cats vs. Hawthorn Hawks @ GMHBA Stadium

It’s a blockbuster to start Friday night footy as the Cats host the Hawks. Geelong should perform strongly this season and they could be a fraction too strong for the Hawks.

The head-to-head line reflects that and we’re sticking with the Cats to bounce back after an opening round loss to the Giants.

Hawthorn were good in Round 1 when beating the Brisbane Lions. Therefore, they should keep this game close.

Take the Cats 1-39 @ $1.99 for the best value.

* On the injury list:

Geelong Cats: Nakia Cockatoo, Lachie Fogarty, Josh Jenkins, Jake Kolodjashnij, Stefan Okunbor, Jack Steven

Hawthorn Hawks: Will Golds, Blake Hardwick, Dan Howe, Jarman Impey, Changkuoth Jiath, Jaeger O’Meara

Saturday 13/6/20

1:45pm Brisbane Lions vs. Fremantle Dockers @ Gabba

We are expecting big things from the Brisbane Lions this season. They are coming off a tough Round 1 performance against Hawthorn, but playing at home should help their chances.

Punters have a tough time following Fremantle and they’re inconsistency isn’t favourable. Therefore, we are picking the Lions to come away with the win at odds of $1.35.

The line is set at 17.5, which should see an even amount of action on both sides. The Lions, however, should be the better side throughout the game and we are entertaining the –17.5 ($1.90) line.

* On the injury list:

Brisbane Lions: Marcus Adams, Stefan Martin, Cam Rayner

Fremantle Dockers: Stefan Giro, Joel Hamling, Liam Henry, Alex Pearce, Sam Switkowski

4:35pm Carlton Blues vs. Melbourne Demons @ Marvel Stadium

The Blues and Demons will be wanting to improve on their 2019 efforts, especially the Melbourne Demons.

The Demons were touted as a top four chance last season but they failed to live up to expectations. It was a dismal season, but times have changed and punters will hope the Demons have, too.

They are the current favourites against the Blues but this game should be close. Carlton have the +10.5-point advantage and that’s worth taking.

We think Melbourne will win, but it will be close. Take the Demons 1-39 @ $2.02 for a bit of extra value.

* On the injury list:

Carlton Blues: Charlie Curnow, Tom De Koning, Zac Fisher, Brodie Kemp, Matthew Kreuzer, Caleb Marchbank

Melbourne Demons: Marty Hore, Kade Kolodnashnij, Harry Petty, Braydon Preuss, Aaron Nietschke

7:40pm Gold Coast Suns vs. West Coast Eagles @ Metricon Stadium

It is one of the more lopsided markets of Round 2 as the impressive West Coast Eagles square off against the struggling Suns.

Most punters are expecting the Eagles to come away with the win, and any other result would be a massive shock in the AFL world.

We look for value in the margin markets and it has been found with the Eagles 40+ @ $2.30. It should be a stroll in the park for West Coast and we don’t think they’ll have any trouble putting up a big win over the Suns.

* On the injury list:

Gold Coast Suns: Charlie Ballard, Pearce Hanley, Jarrod Harbrow, Jack Hombsch, Anthony Miles, Wil Powell, Izak Rankine, Mitch Riordan, Alex Sexton, David Swallow, Rory Thompson

West Coast Eagles: Jarrod Cameron, Mark Hutchings, Mitch O’Neill, Daniel Venables

7:40pm Port Adelaide Power vs. Adelaide Crows @ Adelaide Oval

It would have been an amazing clash with a crowd at Adelaide Oval, but it should still be a great game for viewers at home.

It is no surprise to see the Power holding favouritism at $1.42 and they should be too good for the Crows.

Adelaide were a mixed bag last season and they struggled with consistency. It could be much the same in 2020 and it could take them a while to find their groove.

We suggest taking the Power –15.5 @ $1.93 or Power 1-39. We can’t see them winning by more than 40, but they should do enough to cover the spread.

* On the injury list:

Adelaide Crows: Tom Doedee, Riley Knight, Tyson Stengle

Port Adelaide Power: Riley Bonner, Tobin Cox, Charlie Dixon, Willem Drew, Mitch Georgiades, Robbie Gray, Scott Lycett

Sunday 14/6/20

1:05pm GWS Giants vs. North Melbourne Kangaroos @ GIANTS Stadium

The Giants could be in for an excellent season and they should be able to handle the Kangaroos in Round 2.

GWS scored a 105-73 win over the Geelong Cats before the break and although the Kangaroos won as well, they weren’t as impressive.

There is only 18.5 points between them in the line market, which should please Giants’ backers. We think the Giants could put up a number on the Kangaroos on Sunday and there is good value with the $1.99 price.

For a touch for value, we could entertain the 40+ @ $3.50. It won’t be an easy cover but it’s worth a play.

* On the injury list:

Greater Western Sydney Giants: Matt Flynn, Adam Kennedy, Xavier O’Halloran, Zac Sproule, Tim Taranto, Callan Ward, Zac Williams

North Melbourne Kangaroos: Charlie Comben, Luke Davies-Uniacke, Majak Daw, Taylor Garner, Ben Jacobs, Nick Larkey, Flynn Perez, Kayne Turner, Ed Vickers-Willis, Marley Williams

3:35pm Sydney Swans vs. Essendon Bombers @ SCG

The Swans vs. Bombers sees the closest head-to-head market of the week. Currently, the Swans hold the narrow advantage at $1.74, but backing the Bombers isn’t the worst strategy.

Playing away from home shouldn’t have much effect under the current situation, and the Bombers are a team capable of producing the goods.

It should be a close game either way, so taking theBombers 1-39 @ $2.56 is the best value for punters. They could come away with a tough victory that could be decided in the final minutes.

* On the injury list:

Sydney Swans: Joel Amartey, Lance Franklin, Michael Knoll, Sam Naismith, Sam Reid, Ben Ronke, Jackson Thurlow

Essendon Bombers: Patrick Ambrose, Joe Daniher, Sam Draper, Orazio Fantasia, Noah Gown, Dyson Heppell, Tom Hird, Cale Hooker, Lachie Johnson, Anthony Mcdonald-Tipungwuti, Mason Redman

6:05pm St Kilda Saints vs. Western Bulldogs @ Marvel Stadium

A tricky game faces punters on Sunday night as the Saints host the Western Bulldogs.

The Saints lost to North Melbourne in Round 1 and the Bulldogs scored only 34 points against the Collingwood Magpies.

It’s tough to say which team looked worse in the opening round, but the Western Bulldogs have more upside in 2020.

Take the Bulldogs in the head-to-head market at $1.57. You can also find value in the 1-39 market at $2.06. It’s unlikely that either team will win by more than 40 points.

* On the injury list:

St Kilda Saints: Darragh Joyce, Jack Steele

Western Bulldogs: Taylor Duryea, Roarke Smith, Riley Garcia
