WELCOME to the PlayUp Trading Room where you get insight on the days best bets, according to our traders.
Live from 9am everyday – let’s take a look at what’s on deck today;
NBA – Houston Rockets @ Washington Wizards
The Rockets head to Washington to take on a short-handed Wizards team still missing some key pieces to their rotation.
This line seems pretty inflated on the back of some poor Houston performances, but getting Christian Wood and Kevin Porter Jr back from their one-game suspensions helps – as does having them play under the guidance of Stephen Silas again to avoid any more fiasco in his absence.
This should be a back and forth affair and the uptempo nature will suit Houston to a tee. Market is too bullish on a Washington team that hasn’t proven much.
Our best bet: Houston Rockets +7.5 $1.92 at PlayUp
Horse racing – Wagga
This 6-year-old gelding out of the Ben Brisbourne yard is a very fit customer after 6 runs this prep.
Has the advantage of star in the making Hannah Edgley claiming the 3kg’s – she has had 100 career rides and winning at the amazing 19% and is growing in confidence with every ride.
The other advantage is he strikes his preferred ground as it is yet to miss the place on heavy going.
Has been the subject of support, but the price shortening $5 into $2.50, with part of that move due to the deduction factor. Will camp off the early speed and should be running over the top of them late.
Our best bet: Wagga Race 5, no. 3 – Elope to Vegas $2.40 at PlayUp
Horse racing – Geelong
One of the biggest goes of the day and definitely the one I am most happy to steer the punters towards.
This 5-year-old gelding out of the Matt Cumani yard has just had the debut run at Kyneton over the 1875m and just dropped the bit mid race as the leader took off, but was battling on well until he hit a brick wall of tiring runners and the jockey was happy to sit up for the last 200m.
Steps up to the 2424m today and with natural leaders in the race shouldn’t have that issue this time.
The biggest factor in tipping this is that this is a weak field and when you have a 35-start maiden at a $6.5 quote he doesn’t have to be a star to measure up to this lot. Each way all day.
Our best bet: Geelong Race 4, no. 1 – All Purpose $13.00 at PlayUp
