Midweek selections from the PlayUp form analyst.
Sandown Hillside:
R3 #8 Asfoora: $3.30 on PlayUp – Very keen to see this mare back at the races, after winning three of four career starts last prep. She was a dominant debut winner, which tells me she has the ability to run very well fresh here today. She rounded out last prep in the Autumn with a 3rd behind the very smart Argentia in the G3 Kevin Hayes Stakes, and I feel as though they are definitely targeting group level again with her this Spring prep. It should all start here, with a very winnable midweek race and only 56.5kg on her back.
R6 #9 Tobaysure: $3.50 on PlayUp – Another first up horse who is sure to make an impact, this talented galloper was last seen running extremely well in a Vobis Sires Guineas behind Chartres. He had absolutely no luck that day and did SP as favourite, and was immediately tipped out with a Spring return in mind. He won last prep first up by 6L on the line, an absolute romp that shows he is a proven first up performer. The booking of J Kah here is a big push, and he looks very well suited to map nicely in barrier three.
Canterbury:
R2 #8 Orzala: $2.60 on PlayUp – Very keen on seeing J Mcdonald booked to ride an O’Shea debutant in some famous colours, and all the stars seem to align here. This filly has been prepared for her first start with four trials, two of which have been this prep. She won the fastest over the 1045m at Randwick by about half a length with J Mac in the saddle, and I love to see that he retains the ride on race day. She looks to map well from barrier three, and the ultra light 55kg will be a massive advantage. In what looks a pretty weak 3yo maiden, i’m happy to take the price about her.
R7 #9 Acappella Sun: $8 on PlayUp – Keen on this Bjorn Baker runner to win the last, coming off an encouraging first up fourth in a tricky affair at Hawkesbury. She will be fitter and more forward from that run, and comes into this second up back on to a wetter track which should be to her liking. She was a dominant winner at Mudgee last prep on a very heavy track, and has also trialled extremely well on soft and heavy going. Drawn nice a touch wider in the field, and only carries 54kg under the very in-form Rachel King.
