The fastest growing Australian sporting league the National Basketball League (NBL) is now available for Daily Fantasy on Draftstars. Ten teams battle it out over twenty rounds plus finals means we have over 120 fantasy contests for the 2024/25 season. With friendly fixture times over the Spring and Summer, we are excited to bring NBL Daily Fantasy contests.
How does it work?
For those who are regular NBA players, you will be familiar with most features. The Multiple game contests and Single game Captain contests will be available. The scoring system is the same and you will also be able to follow your teams live. The one significant difference for NBA and NBL on Draftstars is Lineup Construction.
In NBL Multiple game contests, you will roster 7 players only over 3 positions. These positions are x3 Guards, x3 Forwards and x1 Centre. For Single game Captain contests, the format is the same as NBA. You will select one Captain who scores 1.5x Draftstars points for 1.5x the Salary along with x5 FLEX players. Each game you will have $100,000 in salary cap to roster your lineup.
There are a couple of rules when constructing a lineup for NBL:
- In multiple game contests, the maximum number of players from the same team is 4.
- In Captain contests, you must have a player from both teams.
- You salary cap for both contest types is $100,000 salary.
Here is the NBL scoring system:
Point Scored = 1
Assist = 1.5
Rebound = 1.25
Turnover = -0.5
Steal = 2
Block = 2
3 Point Made Bonus = 0.5
Double-Double = 1.5
Triple-Double = 1.5
In Captain Contests, your Captain will score 1.5x Draftstars points for 1.5x the salary.
When constructing a lineup, there are labels provided to indicate the status of each player for an upcoming contest. Note, as these labels come from a third party, we cannot guarantee that they are 100% accurate, but we will endeavor to ensure their accuracy. The main label you need to pay attention is the OUT label, as rostering players who are not playing is not an optimal strategy. The UP arrow indicates that the player is on the court. The S label indicates that the player is a Starter.
If you do have a player who is OUT, make sure you replace the affected player by editing your team before the game starts. If the first game has started in a multi-game contest and you need to change an affected player in the second game, then you can use the Player Swap tool if you are playing multi game contests. The league intends to provide an update on starters and bench players at approximately 30 minutes before a game. Teams social media accounts from time to time will post starters and players who are injured.
In an event that you miss news of a player not playing, the Draftstars “The Sub” will be available if your player meets the criteria. Click the links below to find out more information regarding changes to your Draftstars team.
