India v Australia 5th ODI: Betting Preview and Tips

India and Australia clash in a series decider when they meet in the fifth and final ODI in Delhi on Wednesday.

India opened up a 2-0 lead when winning the opening two games, but an Australia fightback has set up a winner-takes-all showdown.

Head to Head

India have had the better of Australia in recent times in the 50-over format, winning nine of the last 13 meetings. They have also won eight of the last 11 meetings in India.

India have won six of their last seven completed ODIs at this venue and a 3-1 win-loss record against Australia.
India have not lost three consecutive home ODIs to Australia since 2009.
Australia have not won an ODI series away in India since 2009.
Away from home, Australia have not won three ODIs in a row since 2016.

Australia have done well to come back in the series and level it 2-2. The momentum is clearly with them, but India will be itching to keep their proud home record intact.

It has been a great series for Usman Khawaja (283 runs) who has been Australia’s rock at the top. Peter Handscomb (184 runs) has shown that his fleet-footed batting against the spinners makes him an ideal batsman for the conditions.

Pat Cummins (12 wickets) and Adam Zampa (eight wickets have been brilliant with their wicket-taking as well as control giving Australia an edge.

The age-old reliance on Virat Kohli (290 runs) and the openers (311 runs) continued for India in the series, as the middle-order struggled to bring consistent runs to the table. Rishabh Pant will get another chance to show that he can be their back-up ‘keeper, while KL Rahul will be eager for more game time.

Bowling has suddenly become a concern for India, with Jasprit Bumrah (seven wickets) and Kuldeep Yadav (nine wickets) failing to have the same ‘economical effect’ as they used to have.

The conditions at the Feroz Shah Kotla should suit the spinners which may help the Indian spinners. That could mean better control of the middle overs and a win for the home side.
